There's a common question on human minds about death. There's a lot indeed, but there's one that I'm mostly sure all of you had asked yourself. Or maybe you had asked to somebody else: "What would you do if you know you have a disease and there's only a few days left of your life?". Maybe you already watch or presence Randy Paush conference: The Last Lecture. He is a life example. Not because I know or think that he's a good man, I don't even know him. But the conference he gave was a really life example. He wanted to us, who didn't knew him, to make the most of our lifes. To enjoy it, to feel it.
Tonight I went to sleep but then, thoughts woke me up asking me again: "What would I do if certainly I have a few day left of my life?". Well, I started thinking a lot of things. Enjoy family dinners, making excersises, feel the wind and light sun in my eyes in the very morning, see the sky, the stars with our satellites going arround. Take pictures of a dawn, watch the moon in her biggest form when she is early going up. Go outside a night and sense the cold and sweet breeze in the garden watching the sky, and sensing all that's arround. And many many more things. See an old friend, forgive and forget old figths, say I'm sorry, spent time with my dad fishing and seeing mom making breakfast, sharing bike rides with brothers. Who knows how many others things...
And then, I realized that I could do all this things knowing or not when I'm going to die anyway. We all know that someday we are going to die, that's how life works. Someday we stop breathing, life doesn't care what religion you are, what god you have if you do, how money you have, how old are you...Life keeps going, and going and going. He don't care if you are black, white, latin. Life causes you to die. It's not death's job. Death is a state of life. We all are going to die, someday. So, what's the difference? What's the difference if someone with a degree tells you that you have only a few day left? what's the difference between knowing or not? The point is, why you don't just live the life as it were the last day of your life. If someone came to you and say that you are going to die then you change the way you live? why? We need to know and assume that death it's part of life and someday, we'll die.
We don't need a doctor to tell us we are going to die to change our way of living. We don't need to know when we are going to go out of this world just to begin living our life! We need to live our life because death is a fact. And death is a fact because we are alive. Put it this other way, not knowing when you are going to die it's making you lose of feeling alive, watching the sky, sharing with friends, dinning with mom, talking with dad, playing with brothers, taking care of your grandpas...So, the funny thing is that the better thing it could happen to us is to know we are going to die in a not-so-long period of time. That way, we'll enjoy love, family, friends, earth, nature, people, sons. Knowing when we are going to die let us feeling alive...such an irony.
